A children’s playhouse - (for playing and for putting on plays) designed, built, and raffled to support local charity: Henrico CASA.
By three sets of sliding doors, The Curtain is divided into two distinctly-themed zones: green/fairytales/forest/spells and red/black/theater/magician/trickery/illusions.
These sliding doors (or curtains) are sandwiched between plywood and revealed through arched openings with cove lighting: a simplified nod to the proscenium arch in classical theater.
The lateral faces of The Curtain have exposed studs painted black, giving a “backstage” effect. From here, actors can deploy objects hanging on pulleys, access props stored in treasure chest benches, work on the counter-height desks, or maneuver light with the operable colored windows.
